At Eastside Community Trust we are proud to stand with partners across Bristol in support of the growing We Rent campaign. Led by Housing Matters and campaigner Alice Tibbert, this movement is helping renters across the region better understand their rights and feel confident to use their voice.

What is the Renters Reform Bill
The Renters Reform Bill is designed to improve renting in England and give people more security in their homes. Key changes include:
- Ending no fault evictions so renters cannot be asked to leave without a clear reason
- Giving renters more security with open ended tenancies instead of fixed terms
- Introducing a new ombudsman to help resolve disputes quickly and fairly
- Creating a national register of landlords to improve transparency and accountability
- Strengthening standards so homes are safer and better maintained
- Making it easier for renters to challenge unfair treatment
These changes aim to create a more balanced system where renters feel safer, more informed, and better supported.
Renters Rights Awareness Week (27 April to 1 May 2026)
This week is all about making sure people know what these changes mean for them. Across the region, organisations are coming together to share information, provide practical support, and create space for conversations about renting.
You can explore more at We Rent Campaign online, where you will find digital guidebooks, resources for teams, and clear advice for renters.
The Living Room Roadshow
A key part of the week is the Living Room Roadshow, bringing free face to face information events into public spaces. These relaxed and welcoming sessions are a chance to ask questions, hear real stories, and pick up helpful resources.
- Monday 27 April, 11am to 2pm, Italian Gardens, Weston-Super-Mare
- Tuesday 29 April, 1pm to 4pm, Senate House, University of Bristol, Tyndall Avenue BS8 1TH
- Wednesday 30 April, 10am to 1pm, Yate Shopping Centre
- Thursday 30 April, 10am to 1pm, Kingsmead Square, Bath
- Friday 1 May, 10am to 2pm, Millennium Square, Bristol BS1 5DB
Guidebooks are available to collect locally or download online, making it easy to share information with your teams and communities.
A Fairer Future Starts Here
For many people, renting can feel uncertain and difficult to navigate. Renters Rights Awareness Week is about changing that. By bringing information into the open and into our communities, we can help ensure that everyone understands their rights and the changes ahead.
We encourage our community to get involved, attend a roadshow event, explore the resources, and help spread the word. Together, we can support a stronger and fairer renting system for everyone.
