Come and learn about propagation, food growing and greenhouse skills while helping establish a new community nursery at Felix Road Adventure Playground!
Have you ever wanted to learn how to grow plants from seed, propagate new plants and help create a thriving community growing space?
Join us for this hands-on course as we bring the brand new greenhouse at Felix Road Adventure Playground to life.
Participants will work alongside a professional grower to design, establish and begin operating a productive urban community nursery. Together we’ll learn practical growing skills while getting the plant nursery ready to engage kids in food growing, producing plants for local greening projects and creating a productive food garden in raised planters to provide fresh produce for the playground kitchen.
Whether you’re completely new to growing or already have some experience, this course is a fantastic opportunity to build your confidence, learn practical techniques and become part of a growing community of local gardeners.
During the course participants will learn how to:
🌱 Plan and set up a community nursery
🌿 Sow seeds and propagate new plants
🪴 Pot on, care for and manage young plants
🥬 Design and establish productive raised planters
🌼 Grow plants for community greening projects
💧 Manage a greenhouse and plan for seasonal growing
🤝 Build a community growing space that will continue to support the playground and neighbourhood long after the course finishes
By the end of the course, we’ll have established the foundations of a working community nursery and productive raised planters that will support the Felix Road Adventure Playground kitchen and provide plants for community greening projects across Easton and Lawrence Hill.
