Celebrating LGBT+ History Month

First celebrated in the UK in 2005, LGBT+ History Month was created to raise awareness of the achievements, struggles and contributions of LGBTQ+ people, to help combat prejudice and to make LGBTQ+ communities more visible in schools, workplaces, community spaces and beyond.

In Bristol and the surrounding area there are a host of events and activities this February to honour queer history and community. Local festivals, talks, exhibitions and LGBTQ+ spaces across the city offer moments to learn, share stories and celebrate the diversity of identities that make up our community. This year, OutStories Bristol are hosting the LGBTQ+ History Month Festival at MShed, bringing to life 150 years of Bristol’s rich queer history through talks, exhibitions and events.

A Special Film Night

We are delighted to invite you to our special film screening on Thursday 12 February, starting at 19:00 at Easton Community Centre.

In partnership with Queer Vision, Eastside Community Trust presents Drip Like Coffee – a tender and intimate film that explores queer romance, desire and the courage to embrace one’s truth. Recently featured at the 39th BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival 2025 at BFI Southbank, the film has been praised for its warm visual palette and poetic storytelling.

Set within the world of a Black queer couple, Drip Like Coffee captures the soft moments, tensions and deep emotional currents that define loving relationships. It is a heartfelt reminder that every love story deserves to be seen and celebrated.

This screening is a cosy, love-filled way to honour LGBT+ History Month and celebrate love in all its forms this Valentine’s. After the film, stay for a short discussion where we can unpack the themes together as a community.

We are also showing our pride in the community by putting up rainbow and transgender bunting around Easton Community Centre throughout February so that everyone passing by knows we are proud and we are loud.
