The aim of these sessions is to offer disabled and neurodivergent children who struggle with busy, open access sessions an opportunity to explore the adventure playground with their family in a calmer environment.

Key Information

  • Advance booking required (see below ‘Booking Information’ for more details)
  • Session dates: Tuesday 29th July, 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th August
  • Session times: 11:00-13:00 (Families can come and go any time between these hours)
  • Max 20 children per session
  • For children aged 4-16 and their families
  • At least one adult per booking is required to stay and supervise the children they bring
  • There will be two staff present to set up equipment and supervise the space as a whole, however they will not be able to offer 1:1 support or manage the needs of the entire group.
  • A free hot meal will be provided for all children as well as drinks and healthy snacks
  • There is no disabled parking, however there is on street parking on the surrounding streets. It is usually possible to find a parking space within 1-5 minutes walk of the playground
  • The playground is enclosed and we will keep the entrance gate closed
  • We will not play music or have any loud activities going on
  • Accessible toilet with a changing table is available
  • There is a flat, concrete path around most of the playground and a ramp onto some of the structures

There is a large outdoor space with a variety of structures and swings, a wild area, football pitch and stage, as well as an indoor space with pool, ping-pong and toys. Craft materials, bikes, skates, den building materials and sports equipment can be provided on request.

Some of the equipment and structures have an intentionally high level of risk. If any of the children you bring struggle with making their own risk assessments, it is very important that you supervise them closely.

Booking Information

These sessions are aimed primarily at disabled and neurodivergent children and spaces are limited. Please bare this in mind when deciding how many child spaces to book for siblings or friends.

As part of the booking form, you will be asked to explain why you think your children will benefit from attending these sessions rather than the open access sessions.

Each adult may book up to 4 child spaces. If you require more than this, please indicate the reason on the booking form and explain how you intend to supervise all the children attending.

Priority will be given to families with BS5 post codes and for children with an EHCP, however if there is space, other families will also be able to attend.

Booking for all of the sessions will open on Tuesday 8th July. There is no limit to the number of sessions an adult may book, however you may not receive a space on every session if demand is high.
