Housing Matters in Easton and Beyond

Supporting residents at risk of homelessness.

Housing Matters, a Bristol-based charity dedicated to housing advice and homelessness prevention, has launched a powerful new video showcasing the impact of its growing outreach work. Easton Community Centre, part of Eastside Community Trust, is proud to be one of several trusted community venues hosting the charity’s vital face-to-face services.

The new video gives voice to local people who have received support from Housing Matters during some of the most challenging times in their lives. It highlights the urgent housing issues affecting communities across Bristol, and the importance of free, expert support being available in safe, familiar spaces.

As part of their mission to stop homelessness before it starts, Housing Matters now holds regular pop-in housing advice sessions at Easton Community Centre. These free drop-ins are open to everyone and offer confidential help with issues such as evictions, unsafe housing, rent arrears, and navigating the private rental market.

Upcoming sessions at Easton Community Centre:

  • Tuesday 17 June – 10am to 12pm

  • Tuesday 1 July – 10am to 12pm

  • Tuesday 15 July – 10am to 12pm

  • Tuesday 29 July – 10am to 12pm

No appointment is necessary, just come along.

Stacy Yellend, CEO of Eastside Community Trust, said:

“We know that housing isn’t just about having a roof over your head. It is also about stability, health, and a sense of security. By bringing Housing Matters into trusted community spaces like Easton Community Centre, we’re reaching people earlier in their journey and helping them avoid crisis and homelessness down the line.”

Alongside their Easton sessions, Housing Matters now works in community hubs across Bristol, focusing on areas of high deprivation where access to specialist housing advice has been limited. By meeting people at an earlier stage, their outreach team helps prevent crises before they escalate, so reducing pressure on emergency housing services and improving outcomes for individuals and families.

The charity is also an active member of the Bristol Homeless Forum, collaborating with more than 50 local organisations to reduce homelessness in the city through shared learning and collective action.
