Felix Road is a unique space dedicated to children’s play, family time and community togetherness.
Our adventure playground has an open access policy – this means children are free to come and go as they choose. Children can decide what they do and with whom, they are encouraged to control their own play. Our play space offers children the freedom to grow, explore, be creative, experiment, be wild and crazy, take measured risks, play with uncertainty…….and enjoy a healthy happy childhood.
Our playground is supervised by trained qualified playworkers. We are always on hand to offer help, support and advice while allowing the children to test their abilities, problem solve and work things out for themselves.
Accessibility
At Eastside Community Trust we want to be as welcoming, inclusive and accessible as we can for all our community, visitors, staff and tenants. If you have any concerns about access issues, please call us and we will do our best to help.
Access
- Step-free access through the main gates and into the main building
- Accessible toilet with large changing table
- All on one level
- Flat tarmac path around much of the site
- Double yellows outside the playground mean blue badge holders can park outside for up to three hours
- Some children might require additional support to access the playground safely. In these cases we ask that you speak with a playworker to determine how best we can support your child. It may be that they need to be accompanied by an adult
- We are very happy to welcome Guide and Assistance Dogs
Family friendly
- We offer a range of family-focused activities as well as family-friendly facilities, food and drink.
- Baby changing facilities for those with young children.
- Bristol Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme. You are welcome to breastfeed your child anywhere at Felix Road Adventure Playground. We commit to upholding a woman’s right to breastfeed by ensuring that if someone complains, the complainant is moved, not the mother.
Open Access
Children aged 8 to 14 years old are free to come and play unaccompanied by an adult. Our playworkers are trained to ensure the playground is safe, adventurous and playful.
Younger children are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
SEN+D
We have many elements that are designed to encourage and meet the needs of children with SEN+D including:
- Swings
- Hammocks
- Ramps on to play structures
- Nature area
- Treehouse
- Coloured lenses on play structures
- Places to hide
- Places to climb high safely

Tips for getting the most out of your visit
Please introduce yourself to one of our playworkers when you first arrive. They will be happy to show you and your child around the playground and discuss any needs your child might have. Depending on the needs of your child, we may be able to apply for funding to work with them on a 1 to 1 basis. This requires a commitment to attend once a week for at least a term. Please email Kate if you wish to discuss this further: kate@upourstreet.org.uk
Quieter times
If your child has sensory or additional needs and may find an open-access session overwhelming or maybe just needs a bit of space to get comfortable we recommend attending our Sunday sessions early on (from 1pm). This tends to be a quieter time when you can introduce your child to one of our playworkers and explore the space at your own pace.
Little Bag of Calm
Our Little Bags of Calm are sensory bags for you to use for the duration of your visit to Felix Road Adventure Playground. SEN+D children and adults or anyone who would like a pack to make their visit more comfortable are welcome to borrow one. Please make sure to return your bag at the end of your visit. The small shoulder bags contains: an animal puppet, coloured fabric, a fidget toy, and visual symbols. There are two bags available. Ear defenders are also available.
