Investing in our spaces

Investing in our spaces

Over the past few years, we have been working hard to improve facilities at Easton Community Centre and Felix Road Adventure Playground. Making our spaces as accessible and inclusive as possible is one of our long term aims, and we are committed to investing in our spaces and continually improving the experience for all visitors. We work hard to make them both high-quality community spaces while also ensuring that we are supporting people in the neighbourhood who need us.

LOOKING AFTER OUR FACILITIES AND KEEPING ROOMS AFFORDABLE

Like many things, the costs of running the playground and community centre have been increasing. We receive no long-term funding from the council or any other agency to keep either space open. All staff, running and maintenance costs are covered through a combination of fundraising from grants and renting out space.

We have a target each year to reach through renting out space in order to balance our budget.  We secured some funding to offer free and discounted room hire this in 2024 which runs out on 31 March and so we have to cover the full cost of running the spaces ourselves.

Community spaces like ours needs the support of its local community and businesses in the city to keep their doors open and keep space affordable for all.

From April 2025 we are making some changes to our pricing which will help us cover the cost of running, staffing and maintaining our spaces. We last reviewed our prices in 2023 and since then all our costs have risen. We have looked at what other spaces charge to ensure that we are fairly priced in comparison.
