Eastside Community Trust is looking for a reliable and welcoming Centre Assistant to support the evening and weekend running of Easton Community Centre in Bristol.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to help keep a busy community space running smoothly.

About the Role

As a Centre Assistant, you will play an important part in making sure the centre is welcoming, safe and well organised during out of hours activities. You will often be the first point of contact for visitors, helping to create a friendly and supportive environment for everyone using the space.

The role involves independent working during evenings and weekends, supporting community groups and events that bring people together from across the local area.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Opening and closing the building and maintaining security
  • Providing a friendly and professional front of house reception
  • Supporting event bookings and ensuring activities run on time
  • Handling cash and card payments in line with procedures
  • Setting up and clearing equipment such as tables and chairs
  • Carrying out start and end of day building checks
  • Helping maintain a clean and welcoming environment across the centre
  • Reporting repairs or maintenance needs

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone who is organised, dependable and confident working with the public. You will have strong communication skills and the ability to handle situations calmly and professionally.

You will also bring:

  • A flexible approach to evening and weekend work
  • A friendly and respectful approach when supporting visitors
  • Good attention to detail and a methodical way of working
  • Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office 365
  • A positive attitude and willingness to get things done
  • Cultural awareness and an understanding of working in a diverse community

Experience resolving issues with members of the public will be valuable, as well as the ability to remain calm and adaptable when the centre is busy.

  • £13.60 per hour from 1 April
  • Zero hours contract
  • 12 month term
  • Evening and weekend work
